Dear Ocean Outfall Group (OOG), dedicated to ending the 301(h) waiver held by the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD):

At the OCSD OMTS (Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services) meeting tonight, a fascinating presentation of microfiltration was made by Ed Torres of OCSD. Although some of his material seemed to contradict what we had learned at the PAC2 meetings last Spring, such as the cost factors, there do seem to be several different ways that MF could fit into the mix, including a scenario where MF could be placed in front of a secondary system like trickling filters (TF) so that the TF could take out the BOD that got through the microfilters.

If you missed tonight's meeting, you can catch up by attending tomorrow's PDC (Planning, Design, Construction) meeting at OCSD, 5 PM, Sept. 5, Thursday, 10844 Ellis Ave, Fountain Valley. Ed will be giving his microfiltration spiel to this Committee, probably honed by the comments made tonight. There were several OOGers at the OMTS meeting. These OOGers take note: tomorrow we can rebut or add on to the comments we made tonight. Get the PDC

agenda by going to ocsd.com, click on Board of Directors, then Committee Meeting Agendas, then PDC Committee, then Sept 5. Especially read the MF section, agenda item PDCO2-63, pages 58-62. I found it useful for OOGers to make comments at the Public Comments section, addressing the Agenda item. I noticed several directors of OCSD picking up on these comments. So keep it up. I think OCSD is listening.

Hope to see you there.
