OOG: San Diego Waiver Coastal Commission Hearing
Monday in Los Angeles

Dear Ocean Outfall Group (OOG), dedicated to ending the
301(h) waivers held by the Orange County Sanitation District
(OCSD), San Diego, Goleta, and Morro Bay:
On
Monday, the California Coastal Commission will be holding
a hearing on the San Diego waiver in Los Angeles. If you
can attend this hearing, let me know, as we have some
people going up to testify. At this hearing the Coastal
Commission is being pressured to reverse their April decision
to deny the waiver. We want to testify that the ocean
is a statewide resource that should not allow waivers
whether or not the discharger is San Diego, Orange County,
Goleta, Morro Bay, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. San
Diego is the largest waiver holder in the USA, now that
Orange County has voted to give up its waiver. It simply
is against the Coastal Act to allow a discharger to continue
to pollute the ocean and not progressively clean up its
discharge. It is time to stop the waivers everywhere in
California (and the USA).
The
meeting is being held at the Westin Hotel at LAX, on Century
Blvd. near the 405 Freeway, starting at 10 AM. Here is
the website information for the meeting:
