Dear Ocean Outfall Group (OOG), dedicated to ending the 301(h) waiver held by the Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD):

Grueling week this week as we have two city-by-city meetings tomorrow, (Costa Mesa and Los Alamitos) another one on Tuesday, (Buena Park), then the big OCSD Board meeting on June 26, when we want to get 600 people to show public opposition to the waiver. That important Board meeting is this Wednesday, June 26, 7:30 PM (time for Public Comments after a closed Board session, by request of OCSD General Manager Blake Anderson). Usual place, OCSD administrative office, 10844 Ellis, corner of Euclid and Ellis, Euclid exit off the 405 Freeway, Fountain Valley.

Meanwhile, big Costa Mesa Sanitary District waiver meeting tomorrow morning, Monday, June 24, 8 AM at the Costa Mesa Community Center, 1945 Park Ave. Directions: Take 55 Freeway down into Costa Mesa. Turn right on 18th Street. First right is Park Ave. Address is 1945 Park Ave.

 

  

On the same night, Los Alamitos will hear an agendized item at its council meeting, dealing with the waiver. Here are the details:

At this time Councilmembers may also report on items not specifically described on the agenda which are of interest to the community provided no action or discussion may be taken except to provide staff direction to report back or to place the item on a future agenda.
A. Consideration of Orange County Sanitation District “Waiver” Councilmember Jempsa has asked that the City Council discuss the proposed waiver by the Orange County Sanitation District, and provide direction to her as the City's voting delegate. Recommendation: City Council discuss and provide direction to Councilmember Jempsa.

The time to comment on this item will be Public Comments, earlier in the evening. So we must be there at 7PM for Oral Communications. We should say what we learned since the OOG presentation, i.e. the four alternatives, advantages of Alt. C, the full secondary option, the only one that does not a waiver, and the one with only a $32 a year price tag. In any case the Council has to know the public will not stand for the status quo, and we want a higher level of treatment without a waiver. We really need Los Alamitos to support our efforts, so please be there. The City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 3191 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos. Here are the directions: Go up Valley View or Beach Blvd. from 405 Freeway, turn left on Katella, or go up 605 Freeway and turn right on Katella. Address is 3191 Katella.
