Hi,

The motion to re-elect Sara Wan as Chair of the Coastal Commission was made by Huntington Beach's Shirley Detloff.

However, Potter made a motion to continue, seconded by Hart, passing 7-4.

So the issue is still very much alive, there IS a move afoot to replace the Chair, as leaked by a reporter for the San Diego Onion.

The matter will be decided at the December meeting in San Francisco. Another reason to go to San Francisco: Hellman mitigation plan may be under consideration by the Commission.

Now is the time to write Governor Davis in support of Sara Wan, also, if you have time, write to Speaker Wesson and President Pro Tem Burton and, if possible, individual Commissioners.

IMPRESSION: After speaking with staff in Sacramento, the problem seems to be common knowledge. So there are LOTS of legislators on our side on this issue. Make sure it gets elevated, copy each letter to the L.A. Times and/or Sacramento Bee...maybe even the S.D. Onion.

RE: Support Sara Wan for Chair of Coastal Commission

Dear Governor Davis:

Sara Wan has been an exemplary leader of the Coastal Commission.

Under Chairperson Wan, the Commission has built on the respect and attention placed in the Commission by the People of California.

Please use your influence to keep the Commission strong, prestigeous and revered. I hope that the Governor's appointees, Commissioners Desser, McClain-Hill, Woolley, Hart and alternates, will strongly consider retaining Sara Wan as Chair when the vote occurs in December at the Commission meeting in San Francisco.
