Hi,
As we know, JOHN LAING HOMES has been stopped from destroying the graves on Hellman Mesa ONLY by the heroic Native American Monitors, who had to stand in front of tractors and defy arrest and abuse to stop JOHN LAING HOMES from continual violation of the Coastal Act and Special Condition 19 of the Hellman permit.

Here we find JOHN LAING HOMES doing dirty deeds, trying to kill an Oak tree in Los Angeles, as reported by EarthDayLA's Jim Stewart. Please write a letter, JOHN LAING HOMES is the same phony-balloney outfit that destroyed the ancient graves of Ancestors on Hellman!

Urgent: John Quigley & Old Glory Oak Under Siege, Call Antonovich Today, and pass this email on!

John Quigley has been sitting peacefully in the 400-year-old Pico Canyon oak tree for two weeks. But now the developer John Laing Homes has put up a fence around the tree and asked the Sheriff to arrest anyone who tries to help John.

The Santa Clarita City Council has voted to ask Los Angeles County officials to save the tree, but Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich is supporting the Developer. Our main hope is to flood Antonovich with phone calls.

Please call or fax his office ph: (213) 974-5555 Fax: 213-974-1010. Tell the operator to save the oak tree.

Two children who live nearby have named the tree "'Old Glory,' because she sits there in all her glory and splendor representing so many oak trees that have been cut down."

Directions: If you want to join John anytime: Take I-5 north to McBean Parkway /Stevenson Ranch Parkway exit. Turn left over the freeway. McBean becomes Stevenson Ranch Parkway on the West side of I-5. Continue on Stevenson Ranch Parkway west until it dead-ends at a stop sign at Pico Canyon Road. Turn right and continue on Pico Canyon Road to Whispering Oaks Avenue. Park and walk to the tree.

Sample Letter:
Dear Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich,

Re: Old Glory Oak Tree in Pico Canyon

You must save "Old Glory." As the children who live in the neighborhood have said to you, "We call her "Old Glory," because she sits there in all her glory and splendor representing so many oak trees that have been cut down." The community is outraged that a private developer has asked the Sheriff to arrest people trying to protect such a valuable community resource.

The Santa Clarita City Council and the community and the children have asked you to save Old Glory. Tell John Laing Homes to build a road AROUND the 400-year-old oak tree.
