Hi,
I sent the Quigley "open letter" to Mr. Lawrence Webb,
CEO of John Laing Homes, with the following intro:

"Dear Mr. Webb, I hope you will help save the Old Glory Oak in Santa Clarita. Here is a letter from John Quigley, who is living with the Oak now.

Thanks!
Doug Korthof, 562-430-2495

At 06:47 PM 12/1/2002 -0800, you wrote:

Dear Mr. Korthof:
Thank you for passing on Mr. Quigley's letter to me. All of us at John Laing Homes are doing everything we can to save this tree. You have incorrectly assumed that as home builders we are insensitive to the environment....

This SOUNDS positive. However, Lynn Plambeck and the SCOPE organization were asked to develop such a proposal by John Laing Homes Division President at Stevenson Ranch, Mr. Bill Ratazzi, who stated at the time:

"'We don't want to make this road any bigger, and our homeowners don't want this road any bigger,' said division president Bill Ratazzi. 'We'd be very happy not to cut that tree down, but we need to reach an agreement quickly.'"

but when they tried to present their proposal to JLH's Ratazzi, he never returned their calls, according to C.H.'s account.

So if they are "doing all they can to save the tree", how come they are not willing to listen to Lynn's proposal to do so?

The URGENT QUESTION: WILL MR. WEBB AGREE TO LET THE TREE LIVE, AT LEAST UNTIL HE RETURNS IN 10 DAYS (Mr. Webb is travelling).

/Doug
