In this time of death for the pine trees of Big Bear and Arrowhead, can we afford to kill 493 ancient Oaks (with hundreds more on the chopping block later on) that are healthy, fine and beautiful? OC Stupervisors approved plans that call for Oak destruction, followed by "replanting" of young Oaks. What if they don't grow? What if the Oak death, or some other ill, strikes? Who will regret the unnecessary loss of so many healthy trees? The Supes, and the developer, could just as easily (and maybe far more profitably) build AMONG the trees, instead of tearing them out and replanting. That's what planning is all about. -------------------------------------------------- Thanks for all the interest in saving the Foothill/Trabuco Specific Plan from the evil supes, who want to amend it into extinction. Last Saturday's informational picketing (the first) went well, over-achieving ALL the goals. Door-to-door did not happen this week, but soon! /Doug Back to T.O.C. 3
