Dear OOG:

This month's OCSD Board of Directors meeting features a number of important items:

1. Agenda Item No. 12 is an item to receive and file the Summer 2001 Huntington Beach Shoreline Contamination Investigation, Phase III, by the USGS and the Peer Review Panel Summary report from the USC Sea Grant program and the UC Santa Barbara Marine Institute. It will be interesting to hear the nuances of how the investigators interpret the HB shoreline contamination. A preview of the studies was heard in the OMTS meeting on April 2, in which the definitive source of the contamination has not yet been discovered, and the OCSD plume or other offshore source was still not completely ruled out.

2. Agenda Item 17 authorizes the General Manager to submit the Full Secondary Treatment Schedule to the EPA and RWQCB. This schedule was the subject of the April 16 Board workshop and predicts complete implementation of full secondary treatment by OCSD in December 2012. This is another step in the new ocean discharge permit that has to be issued in June 2003, when the waiver runs out.

3. Agenda item 9 is to receive and file a petition by Shea Company to annex 4.8 acres of land at Bolsa Chica to OCSD in preparation for building homes in this historic wetland.

Come hear these items and provide input at the full Board of Directors meeting, 7 PM, Administrative Offices, 10844 Ellis Ave, Fountain Valley. The Steering Committee meets at 5 PM.

See you there. Go to ocsd.com to see the various reports and agenda items. Click on Board of Directors on the left hand side of the home page to access the Agenda and its component agenda items.
