2. Jim Stewart of earthdayla joins Robert Schwartz at a press conference 10:00 A.M. Friday at the L.A. City Council in support of URBAN FOREST. After the conference, you are encouraged to walk in to the "public comment" period of the L.A. City Council and stress the importance of saving our Urban Forests -- and Ballona wildflower fields.

Just as healthy wetlands demand an adjacent, healthy upland, urban forests -- habitat that survives amongst our houses, streets and edifices -- is important to retaining some semblance of
the original balance. Both are important: islands of wild space, such as the native plant "garden" of Ballona West Bluffs, and less oppressive "footprint" of our own dwellings, the Urban Forest.
