They cannot get away with negligent attempts to avoid public scrutiny and A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE! You may remember that JSERRA's paid signature gatherers led many to believe that they were signing AGAINST development -- then tried to use the initiative to avoid a referendum on Putiidhem. "The
San Juan Capistrano city council has scheduled a special meeting for May
19, 2003-6:00 p.m. to vote on the JSerra proposal. The city council must
decide whether to approve a general plan change to allow the high school
to go forward with its sports complex plan or put the issue to the voters.
JSerra has yet to call the Tribal Office and hear our voices! Meet at
the city hall parking lot at 5:00 p.m. with signs. LET THE VOTERS DECIDE!!!!!
To find Putiidhem: Take the Junipero Serra exit from the 5, go West to
Camino Capistrano (first intersection). Putiidhem is the large open space
on the SE corner. ---------------------------------------------- The tenants of the 46 cabins at Crystal Cove made the sacrifice to leave, now the much more unsightly trailer park should do the right thing and LET THE PUBLIC IN! FROM AN ALERT FORWARDED BY LAURA DAVICK: "...Councilmember
Steve Dicterow of Laguna Beach has placed an item on the agenda for the
Laguna Beach City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 20 for consideration
of an "alternative plan" that lets the El Morro trailer park
residents keep their stranglehold on the property for another 30 years!
And turns over the trailers at that time to Laguna Beach for permanent
affordable housing in our State Park! If you are as outraged about this
as I am, please join me in, e-mailing, calling, and/or writing letters
to the LBCC (addresses and e-mails below) and show up in strength on May
20 at 6:00 PM to tell the city council to vote no..." "It's incredible...that a city like Laguna that has worked so hard and taxed themselves to preserve open space would consider anything that would continue to compromise public access to both the El Morro beach and canyon at Crystal Cove State Park. If you're not already aware of it, check out the great web site created/hosted by Laguna Greenbelt, Inc., at http://www.yourbeach.org for the facts on El Morro. "Come Tuesday, May 20 at 6:00PM to support the State Park plans for El Morro (converting the trailer park to a public campground and day-use picnicking, with extensive stream and canyon restoration) and avoid an attempted land grab by Laguna Beach. There are six mutually exclusive motions; speak in favor of alternative motion #2. Crystal Cove SP belongs to all Californians!
