I told it like it was, and with serious gusto, with not a thought to personal credibility (even though I was in an election!) or personal safety.. But now...as this book closes in on being complete, the world is a very different place, my friend! A simple stolen election has transformed into America bombing other countries on falsehoods told to us through government controled media, America having completely discredited the UNITED NATIONS (right when we need them most!).... There are cluster bombs in residential Bahgdad neighborhoods blinding kids, Oil companies running the EPA, a new American gestapo called the OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY, and here comes BLACK BOX VOTING!! This is now a fascist regime, and there is no doubt about it. Things go on around me on a daily basis, and they are things I NEVER DREAMED I would see in America. It is a very scary world into which we have entered, as we usher in this 21st century. What EVER could have happened to lead up to this? Well..it really wasn't as complicated as all that! There were those of us who were not at all happy to sit back and watch the world be destroyed. And to us, it just didn't matter if you destroyed it sword in hand and war cry bellowing from greasy lips, or if you destroyed it while wearing a lovely form fitting 3 piece suit... ...maybe one of those EURO cut ones, y'know, all contoured to the body, with a mediteranean color coordination... No, we saw through all that, and we told the world how very close they were to fascism, how dangerously similar we seemed to just pre-nazi Germany... How uncomfortably like Bejing, where they purge unrest among college students with machine guns... People laughed. Ha ha. Ha ha. The environments FINE, they said. You're all CHICKEN LITTLES, you all are! This Earth, she's a BIG PLACE, and mankind and his industry can't really do her no harm no-how.... And the money influencing the TWO PARTIES? Thats right, anyone who doesn't realize there are two parties in America, and two parties ONLY, well... They didn't take politics in school... they may even be Comministsiz!!!
It's all part of the SYSTEM, see? It runs on money, and it works well!! Just like the fore-fathers planned it to! Intended it to! It's fine, and it'll all work out the way it should! Hell, GOD's in control, and GOD LOVES AMERICA! (Kick in here with the thunderous roar of thousands of brainwashed, blood thirsty rightist religious zealots, most with two SUV's one of which (the white one) has a little bumper sticker that says: BOMB THEIR ASS AND TAKE THEIR GAS! Hmmmm...I really did see that one. OK, so we voted GREEN. For NADER, and it really didn't matter who the GREEN candidate was, the result was the same. (As a musician, I even opened the show for NADER in 2000 at CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY, in California near the end of the election!)
...That result? And they DID. The rest is history, and the crazy brainwashed country we have become will indeed be judged harshly by those who come next. VERY harshly. We are charging full speed ahead with the utter obliteration of the natural world that started when we got Columbus here in 1492, got a kick in the ass when the kooks got here in 1608, and began in earnest when we slaughtered the Indians, Wolves, and Forests about 1850. Apparently, at some time or another, this is what GOD told someone he wanted us to do. AMEN. .And so, here I am, still going, but...writing this stuff is no longer the silly, inconsequential lark it originally started out as!! And sometimes I think: Jeeze, this is gonna go out as a BOOK? These crazy fools are gonna read my slant on their fuhrer, and come after me like I was Salmon Rushdie or whatever, y'know?! It's a little scary! It starts out as annoying, as I go to the grocery store, and there is a FLAG hanging over every aisle...a FLAG on every box of water bottles... a FLAG on the upper right hand corner of every newspaper, a FLAG on the antennae of every SUV, TRUCK, and MINI-VAN. On the side of the BUS. On the side of BUILDING. Then, I go have coffee, and the speakers in the ceiling are spouting patriotic/faith-based MUZAK... Oooooh! Starbucks is giving away little frappacino's today! Yum!! Chocolate, sugar, RBST Bovine growth hormones, anti-biotics, puss, and GMO's!! And you get a glass with it, too!! Can't wait to see where the broken pieces actually all wind up! But, darn it! There's a lady at my table outside (I went in for a refill).. "I'm sorry, I thought it was empty". ...and now she's quoting me the BIBLE. Yes, my friends, the climate has changed since I started on this book. IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. What a delicious stitch in time!
