This "project" on the sacred West Bluffs above Ballona Wetlands Ecosystem in Los Angeles (Marina Del Rey) is a property left over from the demise of the Southern Pacific Rail Road. Now, it is owned by Catellus. There are not enough roads to serve
the proposed housing tract, and the Coastal Commission approved a new road up the Hastings Canyon area. The bulk of the tract is outside the Coastal Zone, and the remains are just outside the Coastal Zone. There are never the less protections, which is it not clear the developer is following.

"...anger and frustration today while trying to stop bulldozers from destroying an ancient burial site discovered at THE WEST BLUFFS yesterday! I am a concerned neiborhood homeowner who witnessed the bulldozers that were ordered stop by Cindy M. our councilwoman...
"She promised me that they had stopped, but shortly after...they went on for the rest of the day...Daily Breeze came out and is covering the story. And hopefully many more tomorrow...."
