~SAVE OUR HERITAGE TREES~

Around the State, Heritage Trees (those older than Lady California herself-150+up!) are being cut down.

Just yesterday we lost the giant TRABUCO OAK called AMERICA.

She was 79 inches in diameter!

As you go about your day, know this- while you go about your business, the LUMBER COMPANIES and DEVELOPERS go about THEIRS- EVERY DAY!

The states Heritage trees get cut for two reasons... in the SOUTH they get cut and thrown out of the way.

In the NORTH, they get 'harvested'.

The agencies in place to PROTECT trees..actually make MONEY CUTTING THEM, the CDF (California Dept. of Forestry) for instance.

But lucky for us, even in the dark times, there are great people fighting for us, some outdoors, some inside the system!

Here is a way to help RIGHT NOW! Please take the time.

Love, joey xoxoxoxo

3. Please make a donation today by clicking on:
http://www.ancienttrees.org/donate.php We are working round the clock to fight Timber's well-funded lobbying efforts. A contribution to this campaign will help pass the ultimate piece of legislative protection for the old-growth trees. SB 754 will protect ALL that is left of California's heritage trees¾forever; we will not be forced to
purchase parcels of land for protection anymore. This is it, NOW is the time.

The Heritage Tree Preservation Act (SB 754), as introduced by Senator Perata, will ban the cutting of select species of old growth trees (Coast Redwoods, Giant Sequoia, Port Orford Cedars, Douglas-firs and hardwoods) in California on non-federal forestlands that were alive in 1850, California's first year of statehood. SB 754 applies
protections to the remaining oldest and largest trees, which represent less than one-half of one percent of the non-federally owned trees standing in California today. For more information on the bill, please go to: www.ancienttrees.org or call Lisa Beyer at 510-444-4710 ext. 308.

The bill has passed the California State Senate and now is in the Assembly where it is awaits a vote in the Committee on Natural Resources (June 30, 2003). If and when it passes there, it will be referred to the Assembly Appropriations Committee, the Assembly Floor and then to the Governor's desk for a final signature. Please help us
make it happen!
