Hi,

There are some folks looking into the idea of making their own EV, now that the auto makers have walked away from our money. I understand the "party line" is that "WE [the auto barons] WILL NEVER MAKE ANYTHING LIKE *THAT* [said with an expression of disgust] EVER AGAIN". And they are making us pay $$ for being forced by CARB's abandoned ZEV mandate to make EVs in the first place.

Advances in electronics make it possible to build an advanced EV -- with regen braking and 330v A/C motor -- fairly cheaply. One planned vehicle may be around $45,000, with 100 miles range.

Here is another option, from A/C Propulsion. While I have not checked out the validity of the details, A/C is a serious, genuine company that is on the cutting edge of EV technology, and has an enviable, star-studded record of achievement in EVs. This is
by all accounts a serious offer, and worthy of consideration. But the offer is not made by this email, it can only be made by the company, so if you want more info, email me, and I will refer you to the company rep.

-----------------------ADAPTED FROM A FORWARDED MESSAGE

"AC Propulsion (http://www.ACPropulsion.com) is constructing a lithium-battery version of their famous T-Zero prototype. Some estimates indicate that the range on a charge of such an upgrade might be around 250 to 300 miles, since Lithium batteries have about 3 times the energy density of lead acid, and their T-Zero gets about 80 to 100 miles on lead acid.

"Performance might improve on the T-Zero's mind-boggling 0 to 60 in a little over 4 seconds. If you think an EV1 has incredible, smooth power, you ain't gonna believe the T-Zero the first time you get behind the wheel. This is a major fun car that puts the porsche, Z, etc., in the shade.

"A/C Propulsion is offering participation in the company, to raise funds: for about $189,000 investors will get 2% ownership of the company including a Mini-Cooper EV conversion with similar performance characteristics to the T-Zero thrown in.

"The money will be used for further R&D, perhaps leading to eventual offering of an EV to a niche market..."
