and
the community, to commemorate the ancestors whose burials have recently
been found on the bluff.
"Catellus
has continued grading around the area where the burials have been found
and where more are likely to be found. Recently many more areas have been
roped off, indicating probable burials. This is a critical time in all
of our efforts to save the bluff. Please come and show your support for
the ancestors and the land.
"Background:
On June 11th, a burial site was found on the top of the bluff by archaeologists
working for the developer. Many burials have since been found and the
controversial use of heavy grading equipment for the stated purpose of
archaeology continues. Archaeologists, as well as the Tongva-Gabrielino
descendants of the people whose burials have been found, believe that
many more burials will be uncovered if excavating continues. The Native
American Heritage Commission has asked that the project be halted. Catellus’
response has been to speed up grading with more earth-moving equipment...

PM Planning Commission (public can speak) JOIN COMMON SENSE arguments
and support local SEHBNA residents in OPPOSING expansion of the hated
AES "mincing machine" into a proposed desalination plant --
potentially quadrupling the shredding of sea critters sucked into their
giant pumps, and the hot water spewed out their outfall. No outfall is
good, and this one is obsolete -- modern power plants don't need cooling
water. Yet desal would cast this ugly, squalid plant in stone, eliminating
any chance of getting it out of the Coastal Zone.

Hollywood Forever Cemetary 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood Chris Paine,
moviemaker guru, is running a "street theater" mock funeral
for the EV1 Electric Car, now being confiscated and destroyed by General
Motors. GM can do this because Gov. Davis caved in to the dirty air folks
and killed the ZEV mandate which required GM to make a small number of
EVs -- grudgingly released to the public at high prices -- now they don't
have to, they can concentrate on making money, dirty air and killing your
lungs.

4. Sunday, Aug. 3, 11AM to 5PM, KUCINICH RALLY at the Old Santa Ana Courthouse.
US Rep. Sanchez is slated to introduce the candidate. The Bush house of
cards is falling apart, with Bush II being shown to be as fast and loose
with the truth as Bush I. Impeachment proceedings are already being explored
by timid, fearful Dems such as Sen. Graham. Bolder, more resourceful Dems,
in the mold of Bill Clinton, FDR and JFK are needed, and some bold soul
is needed who will tell it like it is -- disaster, distress and deficits
will be the Bush Legacy.
Electric Vehicle tabling at the Rally, with test rides if they allow it.
